Our dry white wines from Alsace

Our white wines

Most of our wines are created in the vineyards. We work together with the vintage effect, which can be detrimental, among other things, to the ripeness of the grapes and their concentration. The vintage effect is a story of weather where the notions of sunshine, rain fall and temperature directly influence the quantity and quality of the harvest. Like the humans who cultivate the vine, each new year brings its share of sparks and shocks.

The mood of the weather can result in a dry or more gourmand Alsace white wine. Aromatic character, structure, and minerality can be marked by the year.

The quality of our selection

"Details make perfection and perfection is not a detail".

This quote from Leonardo da Vinci echoes the rigor we impose on ourselves. Here is a list of some of the elements that allow us to optimize the quality of our dry Alsace white wines.

  • We cultivate our vines in such a way as to prevent the appearance and spread of diseases (a preventive method called prophylaxis). Observation and reactivity are inherent to the success of our vintages.

  • Our analyses are carried out by the only independent laboratory in Alsace. We are proud of this!

  • Our team includes the work of an agronomist in order to optimize the management of treatments and soils. Our interventions are certainly lesser, but much more relevant.

    • The winemaking and bottling equipment is frequently updated to promote better oxygen management and, consequently, less sulfur dioxide.

    • Each Grand Cru - Moenchberg, Wiebelsberg, Kastelberg – is sold after a minimum of 3 years of bottle ageing. This allows the different elements of the wine to be harmonized. In other words, it is a refining process, like a cheese maker.

    • The corks are selected according to the projected ageing time. Thus, a generic wine will have a natural cork agglomerated and treated against trichloroanisole (TCA), responsible for the famous cork taste. A Grand Cru will display a natural cork of extra quality with NDTech testing. This is a state-of-the-art technology, where an individual control eliminates any risk of TCA contamination.

    • The bottles stored in our cellar have an optimized storage with temperature management and humidity regulation.

A bottle in the image of a thousand-year-old treasure

Born from a thousand-year-old tradition, Alsace wines show some distinctive characteristics. Among them, the flute and the original bottling.

Fine and chic, the flute is easily recognizable. Since the 1970's, wines bearing the appellation "Alsace" or "Alsace Grand Cru" must be presented in this bottle. Also, Alsace wines must be bottled in their region of production. This last point adds an additional rigor allowing the optimal traceability of the vintages.

The best grape varieties

Our dry Alsace white wines are available in all authorized grape varieties. Sylvaner, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer, Riesling; the Alsace vineyard is rich in personality.

However, we are particularly fond of Riesling, and its great capacity to reflect the terroir on which it grows. Just taste our Grands Crus one after the other. Marly-limestone soil, pink sandstone, schist...! The result is eloquent on the palate.

Once installed in the comfort of your cellar, not all wines need to tickle your patience. Some of them are made to be consumed quickly. This is the case of our dry Alsace white wines. Their greedy constitution can be appreciated from their early youth. A prolonged ageing would risk to fade them. We believe that it is better to drink a wine too young than too old. Let's drink a toast!
